At Mount Nelson Hotel, Confections x Collections (CxC) recently celebrated a week of blending fashion and taste. Curated by Twyg, this event turned the historic venue into a hub for African-inspired fashion narratives and delectable confections.
CxC showcased designer collections from VIVIERS Studio, Sindiso Khumalo, Wanda Lephoto, Mantsho by Palesa Mokubung, and Chuulap, each adding unique perspectives to the fashion narrative.
The heart of this gathering lay in the intimate salon-style shows at the Nellie Lounge, matched with exclusive confectionaries crafted by the hotel’s Executive Pastry Chef, Vicky Gurovich. These showcases seamlessly blended fashion and gastronomy, offering a unique sensory experience.
Beyond the runway, designers shared the ethos and stories behind their collections. 2020 LVMH Prize winner, Sindiso Khumalo, highlighted community and collaboration, echoed by other designers.
Wanda Lephoto’s ‘Me Fie’ collection interwove African narratives into contemporary styles. VIVIERS Studio used reclaimed silk and Japanese printing techniques to honor shared values and cultural heritage.
Mantsho by Palesa Mokubung celebrated community building and cultural representation. Chuulap’s ‘Sea Explorer’ collection drew inspiration from Cape Town’s diverse terrain and emphasised cross-cultural collaboration.
Through Confections x Collections, Mount Nelson Hotel showcased a week-long fusion of fashion and flavour, embracing diversity and creativity in its legacy.
