Sunflower Sky Hike

Join the 16th Sunflower Sky Hike on Sunday, June 18, 2023, in support of Rory Miller’s fight against cancer. Challenge yourself with a 16km hike or participate virtually while raising funds for DKMS Africa and the Miller Family.

Raising funds and awareness for DKMS Africa and the Miller Family. Challenge yourself to an extraordinary hike from the Sani Pass border post to the Lesotho Drakensberg border post (total approx. 16km). You could also support this campaign virtually by challenging yourself to a meaningful hike or walk near your home – make it creative, adventurous, exciting, fun, challenging or funny – the sky’s the limit! We will then post your photos on the official Sunflower Sky Hike 2023 Facebook page and share it with DKMS Africa.

This event appeals to outdoor and hiking enthusiasts as well as families and individuals of all ages and fitness levels.

To celebrate life! To remember those who were challenged by cancer! To support those being challenged with cancer! Hikers leave the Sani Pass border post by 8am – hike to the Lesotho border post and return by 2pm.

Event details are as follows:

VENUE: Meet at Sani Pass border post by 7.30am (2hrs from PMB). High clearance

HIKE: Vehicles are required to get to the bottom border post.

COST: Donation-based. Minimum of R120 for actual hikers or R50 for virtual hikers First 150 entrants paying by EFT will receive a Sunflower TOPE (Tube of Hope). Cash on the day accepted. Email for banking details.

WHAT TO BRING: All participants to be self-sufficient but bring cash to support the refreshments on sale at the start and at lunch-time. 

Hike at our own pace – this is not a race, just a beautiful day out!
