Unique ecology

Small, exclusive tour groups of up to 10 people are led by local Weskus experts with over 30 years of experience in nature and cultural guided tours. Carmen Lerm, founder of West Coast Way, says: “Our knowledgeable guides and drivers will share fascinating insights into the region’s unique ecology and conservation efforts. Whether you’re a nature lover, aspiring photographer, or curious traveller, this tour offers an unforgettable journey.”

Explore areas of the Biedouw Valley, and venture into Nieuwoudtville, Postberg, Clanwilliam, and Klein Namakwaland — which are home to rare flowers offering a spectacular display of white, red, orange, yellow, purple, and blue hues. These stunning plants form a part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, making the Cape West Coast one of the richest areas in the world for endemic plant species.

This annual phenomenon occurs when the usually arid landscape is painted with an array of blooming wildflowers, creating a breathtaking and picturesque scene. After good rain, and once the sun comes out, the spring season bring rain daisies, lilac drumsticks, bobbejaantjies, gousblomme, salvia, elandsvy, beesvygies, skaapbossies, waterslaai, and spinnekopblomme, all nestled within the rich Fynbos, Strandveld, and Renosterveld ecosystems.
